Our Story

While the world tackled other single-use waste, batteries remained a massive, ignored problem—10 million single-use batteries are tossed every day in the US. Rechargeables existed, but none were good enough to replace disposables. We asked ourselves: what would it take to make a rechargeable so good no one would go back to alkalines?

The first time I recharged our prototype Paleblue batteries, I realized: “I didn’t go anywhere, buy anything, or throw anything away.” That simple moment sparked our mission: End single-use battery waste. It drives us to keep innovating, pushing forward, and sharing the impact of what we do every day.

The Problem

Ten million disposable batteries are thrown away in the US every single day.

Hundreds of millions of pounds every year. Most end up in landfills.

Why the name 'Paleblue'?

In 1990, the Voyager 1 space Probe took a photo toward Earth from 3.7 billion miles away in which Earth can be seen as nothing more than one small blue pixel. This image helped many people realize the finiteness of our world and our resources. We believe that we should be using these resources more wisely and see the recent advancements in battery technology as a way to help us avoid the need to use or dispose of so many batteries.
